We’re Living in a “Pinch Me” Moment, A Virtual ‘Land Grab’ of Work that Has Your Name, Your Purpose, Happiness & Wealth Written All Over It!

Right now we are in an era of golden opportunity that mimics rare, unique historic moments such as the gold rush, pioneering and land grabs, and the dawn of the internet in the ‘90s. This particular juncture was born out of a global pandemic, which changed most of what we know about how to live and work, about happiness, wealth and purpose. I’m talking about the revolution happening in our work. There has never been a riper time to go for your gold and create exactly what you want…because right now, you CAN have it all. So why wouldn’t you give it a shot?
The rates of professional dissatisfaction and resignation are staggering, as you know. We’ve read and listened to books, articles, study after study, and podcasts that demonstrate why this is happening, how toxic workplace culture and overwork create drastically lower rates of productivity, happiness and satisfaction. We’ve seen how the nature and pace of the typical American work life leads to horrific states of declining health and lifespan, inactivity, disease, anxiety, depression and mental illness. It also leads to spiritual demise and harms our souls, leaving us living for the weekend and devoid of vitality and zest for the miracle that life is, for the people, experiences, things, activities and adventures that make our hearts sing, all that we deem to be our core sources of joy in life.
I’m sure you’ve noticed we’re on the precipice of a work revolution. The culmination of all the heartbreak and tragedy of the past three years is shining an enormous, illuminating spotlight on everything that truly matters. We’re waking up on many levels. There is no time to dread or hate life each day because of unfulfilling work that does not utilize your greatest gifts that sing songs of passion from your heart and soul, because of toxic company culture, the demand for inhuman hours, hopelessly low wages that make it impossible to keep up with rising costs and build your wealth, and the dissatisfaction of not being able to live your life informed by your dreams, your loves, your interests, and what makes you smile and laugh.
This modern-day ‘land grab’ involves an inward quest to discover who you truly are, what your greatest talents and gifts are, those things you call your PURPOSE, that others need and make the world a better, brighter place. You have the power right now to ask these questions to determine what work is fulfilling to you, as a primary career, side gig or retirement venture. Where do you feel you make the greatest impact? What would work look like that enables you to sleep soundly at night for at least eight hours? I’m talking about work that provides the balance and income in life to have time and space to also know your kids, family and friends, to take amazing care of yourself so you’re thriving and helping those around you thrive.
Imagine that your work nourishes you just as vitally as the nutritious food you eat, and that you can’t wait to jump out of bed to do it each day. Imagine you can make your own hours that are reasonable and energizing instead of depleting, create a role for yourself and a business that builds generational wealth for your family, that enables you to have your dream home and even a vacation home if you choose, that respects the fact that you’re human with more interests than just work…in which you have space to rest, tend to yourself or family when sick without scrambling for childcare or lost income, where you can enjoy vacations and ample leisure time to read, nap, travel, take a Pilates class, walk on the beach, have tea with a friend and simply do nothing.
Imagine you can create various streams of passive income so you can stop trading dollars for hours. In this golden era of opportunity, you can create systems online to offer your digital products and make money while you’re living life, while you’re sleeping, entertaining friends, reading your kids a book before bed or cruising the Med! It’s such an incredible feeling to wake up in the morning and see that you made money overnight. And it’s remarkable that this is now the norm and widely available to everyone in 2023. Guys, we’re living in a ‘pinch me’ moment!
I encourage you to allow yourself a few minutes each day to consider what the life of your dreams looks like. Create a digital or physical vision board, write and journal about the specifics, what your most satisfying life looks like day-to-day, how it smells and feels, the type of work you do, your dream home, what you would be doing at 12:00 in the afternoon with your kids or spouse on a day when you complete work early, how your relationships would feel if you’re healthy, balanced and nourished on all levels. What impact would your presence, friendship and work create if you were at your absolute best? Dream huge!
In today’s world, you can easily build a business through networking and a strong, effective online presence based in solid strategy. You can take an “unconventional” path, create a business no one’s ever done before based on the needs you observe around you, design it however it works for YOU, and learn the steps to make it successful. You can attract clients from around the globe to support your work! You can work from anywhere with an internet connection. Today, all of this is not only doable, it’s the norm. You just need to learn the efficient path to take and system that works. I call it the Apparatus of Conversion.
When I began coaching, I heard some wise insights that your niche will find you. I began coaching people who wanted to make giant leaps in life toward the lives of their dreams, in work and career transitions, personal and spiritual growth, friendships, relationships and sexuality, and radiant health. Because, why else are we here? And that voice in our society isn’t nearly as loud as it should be, in my opinion. I expect my niche to shift and evolve over time as I do.
